Hey 89-300ce,

The Riding comparison is Way different, imagine removing 200-LBS, and that 50% or more of that weight is up high, then imagine, S.S. Brake lines on this lighter bike, Completely rebuilt brakes

With that much weight removed this thing is like a sport bike, with the weight loss and the Progressive front and rear suspension, it Handles Awesome, it really likes to lean way over.

It really is surprising the difference between the stock 700-Lbs & 500-LBS.

pretty Cool stuff I'm seeing here I must say, I am very impressed too...I love those two brake lights, looks like one of those old Rat Fink bikes from the rear, remember those, I collected the toys as a young boy..

I took my 86' to a truck scale, Now a truck scale, I suppose is Not very accurate, when dealing with 1000-Lbs or less, because it is used to weigh Heavy weights and they are probably more concerned with Thousand's of pound's or tons accuracy.

But when i started out with my project's 83' & 86' the Goal's were:

1. If a part does Not serve a important purpose, it comes Off. Reduce weight were ever possible, but maintain a Safe bike. I cant remember the exact weight that the exhaust dropped, but it was substantial.
2. I want these Bikes as Short as Possible,
3. I want these Bikes as Narrow as Possible,
4. I want the weight as low as possible,

Keeping to these goals really changed the personality of the bike.

The Rear part of the Frame, about 6"+, was removed off of the 86', as it did no longer served a purpose.

I did keep the center stand, as we all know these GW's like the their center stands, I am still thinking about how to remove it and still work around that one.
I thought about having a center floor stand, for home and using the side stand for riding & away from home.

I will be putting a quick release windshield on the front of the Beige 83' HotRod GW, I like these as they provide a lot of coverage, but you can see the whole road easily up very close to the front of the bike.

I also like that in less than 20 seconds it comes off, no tools required. You can go from full wind protection to naked in less than a minute, and you can hardly tell that it had a windshield on it before.

As far as Music goes my Helmet is setup and I have a Ipod speakers in the Helmet, this way sounds much better than the stock speakers did, as the stock speakers were not real clear with a helmet on Before.

They also have a Flash Drive player, that plugs into the speakers in your helmet, and they sound pretty good.

I built a 78' GL1000 with a 75' Engine, it had the hotter cams, and 75' correct hotter heads, Bought correct & Rebuilt Carb's using Randaak's carb kit, went through everything, the engine had the wrong carbs, for the year and the hotter cams & heads that were on that engine, switched out the carb rack to the correct set, so that it would run right.

Engine was painted a little wild, frame repainted, everything was either rebuilt or new, pretty much like a new bike.

Here are some project pix

Hey JoeDrum,

In regards, to that 78' Hybrid Bumble Bee, I built that for My Brother-in-law He wanted a Bike, I completely went through that bike, New Clutch, Brakes, Brake Masters, Caliper's S.S. Brake Lines, Carb's Rebuilt, Starter rebuilt, Heads pulled apart valves wire brushed, seats brushed, ports cleaned. New Rick Stator, fixed/repaired Wire Harness, Used Heavy Gauge wires in wire harness.
New Head Gaskets, timing belts, thermostat, Water Pump, Rad hoses.
Pretty much anything that could be replaced, was.

Changed to pointless Ignition. Rebuilt Front Forks used progressive springs and synthetic fork Oil, & progressive Rear coil over shocks.

This bike went back to my Brother-in-Law, a few Months ago.

I built Three bikes last summer.

I was thinking about doing a Red & Black Engine, & Red & Black Frame

I guess i will build three more this summer.
