Fuel Pump- near direct replacement, cheap

Update: the new fuel pump failed after just a few miles. Could have been due to excess debris in fuel stream. The good news is the supplier replaced it no questions asked and the replacement is doing fabulously.

    gas supply restriction

I picked up an '84 Aspy this spring with less than 20k miles on it in non-running condition. It had sat in a barn for the last 8 years. I got it running well after cleaning carbs and replacing the fuel pump and filter. I also pulled a fair amount of debris from the tank but there may still be...

Fuel Pump- near direct replacement, cheap

Found a almost direct replacement fuel pump on eBay for less than $30. Look for 2005 Suzuki QUV620 QUV 620 and supplier is High Fuel Flow. Also found one for $21 For '01-'08 Kawasaki Mule that looks identical. It uses the original mount bracket. I was able to reuse chrome end cap with a little...

    Ticking fuel pump

Yup, a motorcycle nut with OCD, go figure. I don't know which is worse, him or me watching the video 2 or 3 times and drooling. :-)

    Ticking fuel pump

This guy has come up with a pretty cool chrome cover for the Prelude pump, using a chrome oil filter cover and giving it a slight mod. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHuuRdwyKIE

    Ticking fuel pump

I made it home with no issues. I picked up an 84 Prelude fuel pump in Tennessee and had it in the trunk just in case. I noticed the clicking would come and go. My son in law said his started clicking loudly before it went bad. Thanks for the advice

    Ticking fuel pump

I'm on an epic motorcycle ride with my son, about 2000 miles so far. Right now we are near Deals Gap in NC. Earlier today I started noticing a ticking sound that I traced to the fuel pump. Bike is running fine. I'm 600 miles from home. Should I be worried? Our plan tomorrow is to ride the...

    Greetings from Hoosier land

I just pulled a slide to check. It shows mild scuffing on OD. Then discovered pin hole in diaphragm. Hokaay. Huston, we found a problem.

    Greetings from Hoosier land

I'm having trouble visualizing what you are talking about. The slides are cylindrical thingys, right? And somehow you are using a gun barrel cleaner, which is designed to clean the ID of gun barrel, to polish the OD of the slide. And the glass table makes no sense at all. Help me out! I want to...

    Greetings from Hoosier land

It's just a standard '84 Interstate, no mods really. Weathered paint. Basic age/number of feet rule: however old it is, it looks good from that number of feet away. The cam chain broke on my go to bike: '81 CB900C w/ full Vetter compliment. That happened last Sept. Then in October my back up...

Ford Grid Heater Test for Single Carb

12 amps at 12 volts means it has about 1 ohm resistance. If you put the 6 ohm resistors in parallel, you are only effectively adding 3 ohms to the circuit so your total resistance then is 4 ohms. Figuring a system voltage at 14 volts, I calculate your total current flow at 3.5 amp, or 1.75 per...
