    cracked coils

It has been running fine...I just noticed that the epoxy was dripping. It's only partly melted out, do I just fill in on top of what's left in them...and is JB weld the best thing to use?

    engine noise at 3200rpm

I only hear it with the stethoscope on the oil filter...loudest with it right on the bolt...nothing from the transmission or even the water pump side of the front cover.

    engine noise at 3200rpm

Got a stethoscope and it took while to find it but it's coming from the oil filter area.

    engine noise at 3200rpm

Yes I hear it only in that range,(maybe 3200-3300) more when rolling off the throttle than when accelerating. If I hold it at about 3200 it is continuous.

    engine noise at 3200rpm

The belts were actually a little loose but the sound didn't change at all after I tightened them. The belts are new but I didn't put in new tensioners..may I should have.

    engine noise at 3200rpm

My 81 interstate has a buzzing or chattering noise at about 3200rpm..just noticeable when accelerating but louder when coming down to 3200 Noise is there whether the clutch is engaged or not. Sounds like it is coming from the front of the engine. I checked the belts and tightened the...

    oil leak

I pulled the intake manifolds off just to polish them and there is a good bit of black deposit on the inside where they attach to the heads. Is that normal or does it indicate leaking valves? They all are about the same.

    oil leak

All back together and runs great, no leaks, belts and valves adjusted. I have a couple more questions.... this bike has a long threaded rod for the front lower engine mount, my guess is that's not OEM? Does anyone know what diameter the original rod was? I thought I would get a smooth rod and...

    oil leak

I think telling people you can polish aluminum is like saying you know how to tape sheetrock.....you don't want that to get out or everyone will be calling you. Sounds like I better recheck the tension on the belts. I also have to adjust the valves and I guess from reading the manual that the...
