    muffler compatability

I don't know how loud you are looking for, but the PO of my 1100 cut off the tailpipe extensions flush with the back of the mufflers and it made it quite a bit louder than i prefer. I am amazed how much difference the stock set made. What ever is in those extensions certainly takes the bite out...

Need Help! Bike has been sitting for over a year.

I bought an 83 1100 last Sept. and it was running terrible. And these were the fist carbs I ever overhauled, save for putting a kit in a small briggs engine once. I used the Randakk kit and the instruction manual he has and it it really not that bad a job. Plus, these guys on this forum are as...

How do i bleed the rear brakes on my 1100?

    fork oil replacement

Several people on here recommended putting an ounce of transmission seal restorer in the forks when replacing the oil and it may stop a leak. I finally tackled the job of doing that tonight. I advise removing those caps carefully, as they are under more spring pressure than I thought they would...

    muffler update

Well, finally some good news. Got the bike out for about another 35 miles the other evening, and the more miles I get on it, the better it is seeming to run. Hopefully in the next few weeks I can put some additional miles on it. Our GWRRA chapter is making a run to the Flight 93 Memorial in...

    Need Info on MoPed

For better or worse, I now have two of them, and two spare engines, (one of which is locked up, but knew that when I bought it) and a spare muffler and some spare points/"generator" such as they are. I should be able to get one good one out of the two. They're real speed demons, top speed 20mph...

    Need Info on MoPed

Does anyone know anything about the 1978 Honda "Hobbitt"? Any info on this thing would be appreciated, such as are they worth anything, are parts available, etc. Thanks in advance Randy

    muffler update

Probably right about the crud. I believe it may have also been in the cylinders. If they were anything like the carbs, it couldn't have been good. Looking back through the inspection receipts, some years the PO didn't put 100 miles on it between yearly inspections. It's a wonder I didn't find...

    muffler update

That's good to hear. I really like the way this bike handles. It seems fairly nimble compared to my 1500. A few hundred pounds less does make a difference I guess! (the wife even commented on how much better it sounded this evening with the stock mufflers) Hopefully I'll get a few tanks of gas...

    muffler update

Got to go for a bit longer ride this evening. If it continues to run like it is now, I'll be satisfied. Rode about 40 miles. Seems to be running better all the time. About 4 miles into the ride, something strange happened. I had pulled away from a stop light, and was accelerating, and all of a...

    where to get parts?

DUH!-Looked in the manual again and found the parts. Went to the local Honda dealer and ordered them. They had the bushings in stock, had to order the sliders.

    where to get parts?

........I would get the bushing and sleeve for both sides as well........ I can find the bushing on the parts fiche, but the "sleeve" I don't see. Is that the part they are referring to as the "Slider"?

    where to get parts?

"My then 16 year old daughter and I replaced the fork seals in about 15 mins per fork" === I assume that is after they are off the bike, right? I have the fork seals and caliper kits ordered, so sooner or later I'm going to give it a go. Randy

    where to get parts?

OK, guess I didn't look close enough. Figure 37 above shows the bolt on the side. Mine is behind the shock below the caliper and above the anti-dive stuff. Page 12-14 in the Clymer manual shows it. and page 235 in the Honda manual also shows it. Thanks for the help. . I might drain and refill...

    where to get parts?

For some reason, the manual I have doesn't show that-at least I haven't found it yet. I think it shows a bolt on the side of maybe an 82 or other model.
