Several people on here recommended putting an ounce of transmission seal restorer in the forks when replacing the oil and it may stop a leak. I finally tackled the job of doing that tonight. I advise removing those caps carefully, as they are under more spring pressure than I thought they would...

Probably right about the crud. I believe it may have also been in the cylinders. If they were anything like the carbs, it couldn't have been good. Looking back through the inspection receipts, some years the PO didn't put 100 miles on it between yearly inspections. It's a wonder I didn't find...

That's good to hear. I really like the way this bike handles. It seems fairly nimble compared to my 1500. A few hundred pounds less does make a difference I guess! (the wife even commented on how much better it sounded this evening with the stock mufflers) Hopefully I'll get a few tanks of gas...

DUH!-Looked in the manual again and found the parts. Went to the local Honda dealer and ordered them. They had the bushings in stock, had to order the sliders.

........I would get the bushing and sleeve for both sides as well........ I can find the bushing on the parts fiche, but the "sleeve" I don't see. Is that the part they are referring to as the "Slider"?

OK, guess I didn't look close enough. Figure 37 above shows the bolt on the side. Mine is behind the shock below the caliper and above the anti-dive stuff. Page 12-14 in the Clymer manual shows it. and page 235 in the Honda manual also shows it. Thanks for the help. . I might drain and refill...

For some reason, the manual I have doesn't show that-at least I haven't found it yet. I think it shows a bolt on the side of maybe an 82 or other model.
