    False tank lock cylinder

I bought a replacement lock for my GL1100 1100i from my local Honda dealer last summer. Check with them to see if any are still available.

No power when key is turned on?

Lol. I don't know if there would be enough time to cross youself. I think I was trying to say that you would not want the voltage regulator to kill power to the bike at an inopportune time. I wonder if Fitz2at found his problem yet?

No power when key is turned on?

You do NOT need the rectifier at this point. I had a very similar situation when I reinstalled my engine....no power and no lights. Everything looked good and tight. It turned out to be a bad ground connection from the battery to the frame. I vleaned up the frame contact point and the battery...

No power when key is turned on?

I have done that once before when I had a defective regulator and the lights come on and the bike will start up. Jumper cable from positive post of the battery to the post on the starter motor and if your ground is good, the starter motor will turn. Just to confirm, absolutely nothing works...

No power when key is turned on?

Seems to me that we are turning a simple problem into a lot of hard work. I mean after the carb sync the bike was turned off and now it won't do anything. Do we have something as simple as a poor ground connection from the battery to the chassis causing this? Are you absolutely sure the ground...

    Engine knocking need help identifing

Yes I was wondering about that too. And on both heads?? With different valve springs being used ?? I looked at the video with the rockers removed on piston # 2 and really didn't see very much movement of the intake valve. Did you see the valve compress the spring and move the valve? Somehow I...

    Engine knocking need help identifing

Yes that ratchety sound.... still keeps me thinking what can cause that type of sound? I know that whatever we hear that was recorded by the camera will probably not be quite the same sound as heard by standing beside the bike. My digital camera pick out the valve train sounds on my BSA when it...

    Engine knocking need help identifing

I am wondering if we are off on a tangent here since there seems to be a consensus that the problem lies with a weak spring or valve binding. Just a recap on what was done over the past few weeks: Problem started on a ride returning home. Timing...

    Engine knocking need help identifing

I remember jalvarez saying he had the noise after replacing the belts and syncing the carbs. He then tried to see if the noise went away by repacing the head with a spare one he had. How much space is the between a piston at TDC and a valve that is fully open?

    Engine knocking need help identifing

It sure is a baffeling mystery to what could be causing that tapping sound. Re-reading all your posts it looks like you have done quite a bit of testing to show that the heads seem to be fine and not causing that taping. I have been listening to the tap tap tap so much and then I got to...

    Engine knocking need help identifing

Jalvarez That tapping noise sure sounds like it could be spark related. It reminds me of having heard the same sound on one cylinder on my 69 BSA. I had a fouled plug and when I pulled the spark plug wire off the spark plug, it made a similar sound as what I hear in your video and the spark...
