Unplugging didn't fix it, but today I pulled the 2 wires and jumped them together and solved all the quitting problems. And now I can start the bike in any gear with the clutch lever in or out. I believe a new micro switch would also solve the problem. Thanks Dan and all. Now on to the next issue.

I am not good at computer searching and have spent about 3 hours trying to find the Service manual supplement for my '86 Aspy SEi. I have the '84-87 Service manual seem to need the supplement. Downloadable PDF would be nice. Is the Haynes or Clymer or Helm any good? Fred

No the clutch does not grab until 1/2 like I said and it does NOT hesitate in neutral or stall with clutch lever movement.

Hesitation: As if the engine stops firing for a fraction of a second, not even long enough to show a reduction in rpm's. Except for the couple of times when it quit.

I have already checked the charging which shows 13.9 or 14 on the voltmeter and is confirmed with my multimeter on the almost NEW battery. That issue is put to rest along with the side stand which does not and has not had a safety switch. Further investigation: When I start in neutral I must...
