engine quits when shifting

I think the neutral safety switch is a normally open.
I'd unplug it like suggested and see if the problem continues.
If yes, that would rule out an electrical issue and narrow it to something mechanical in the clutch.
 
Unplugging didn't fix it, but today I pulled the 2 wires and jumped them together and solved all the quitting problems. And now I can start the bike in any gear with the clutch lever in or out. I believe a new micro switch would also solve the problem.

Now on to the next issue.
 
Solved the quitting problems...hmm.
I'm starting to think there might be some sort of backfeed going on in the neutral circuit because that circuit doesn't involve the ignition at all, only cranking.
