So I've been seeing this a whole lot more lately I go to fire up my 81 last night and I noticed I'm down on one cylinder. This will be the second time this has happened check the fuel bowls and one is barely got any in it so I pull the carburetors off and there is algae building in the fuel...
Their are a lot that look alike but they will have too small a piston in them the link I sent you is for a goldwing specifically for 79-81 that don't have linked brakes not just any master cylinder will work been doing this a long time and this one works perfect for heavier bikes and it has a...
You need to try bleeding the master cylinder by itself with nothing connected to it get a bleeder kit and attach one of the clear lines to the master cylinder and put the loose end down in the reservoir make sure fill reservoir up and keep end of line below fluid level and pump away sounds like...
As said earlier it's not the return port it's as clear as it gets not to mention I use an ultrasonic cleaner to remove all sediment too it never completely locked up it just had a slight drag when turning the wheel by hand . A slight resistance it turned out to be the factory piston was 4...
And may have to honestly I'm at near loss on it because every internal has been replaced at this point I'm just wondering if it's not a clearance problem with the master cylinder piston just barely covering the return port cause the wheel rolls it just has the slightest amount of drag
Well I thought I got it soon as it heat soaks it started getting tight again I really don't know what else to do at this point other than buying another caliper to rebuild
I think I might have got it sorted out it still had just a tiny bit of air in caliper I flipped it upside down and it must have shook it loose anyway after is sits over night I will know for sure
I'm having this same problem could you explain your fix my rear will roll but it always has slight resistance like it just not fully released. I've new master rebuild return port is clean , new brake line new caliper rebuild new caliper piston
I've been a motorcycle mechanic for a long long time and I have to say I absolutely despise the 81 gl1100 brakes they have to be the single worse brakes I've ever dealt with. With that being said I need some help with rear brake it drags drags drags. No matter how many parts replaced I done new...
Hey look on my GL1100 restoration thread those fairings are bad to break in that exact spot it probably didn't fall over it probably had a brake fluid leak and it caused the ABS to deteriorate if you look on my thread it'll show you how to fix that you can take you can take a soldering iron and...
If you will read the Honda Manuel it actually recommends lapping the valves believe it or not a light lapping will not hurt the stelight on the valves but cutting the valves will though their is a big difference. I've been lapping valves for years with stelight on them and it won't remove it...
You might as well do both sides if you're taking one head gasket off I definitely do the other side too I love these old GL's but everyone I've ever worked on if they got the original gaskets on its soon they start leaking a good time to replace valve seals and lap the valves too
