The sounds sounds like it's coming from higher but I'm trying to take it out the housing... When I turn it with my pliers it just keeps on turning and turning.. am I supposed to just pull it out???

Ok so I got the tachometer off... was no problem.. But that extremely unbearably loud whining sound is still going on.. Any ideas?? Thanks for the patience guys.. As you can probably tell I'm not the most mechanically savvy!

O.k... another question... Since the cable broke, there is a loud winding sound that get's louder the faster I go. Does anyone know exactly what that is? And also, I believe a part of the cable is broke off inside of the tachometer. So, I believe I will have to take the tachometer off...

Thanks for advice guys... I think it will be a bit more complicated for me. I cannot get to the back of the tachometer because of the fairing. Believe I will have to pull it off and it seems it may be a pain. Thanks again!

Can someone please give me some advice on changing the tachometer cable on my 81' Goldwing Interstate?? Are there any videos out there with a tutorial?? Will I have to take off the fairing????? Thanks in advance!
