Starlight Motorcycle Trailers - Neosho, Mo

Hey All... I recently got dispatched down to North Georgia on a site assignment, and when I went, I took down some 'raw materials' to hand off to a buddy that came up from Jacksonville, FL to meet me. Amidst the goodies was this little rascal... A Starlight motorcycle trailer, made in Neosho...

I finally cut that #@%!!! wire

So... after fighting it seven times now, I finally did it... I cut the wire. Since the day I got this '82 Aspy, the 'self cancelling' turn signal has given me fits. I've cleaned the switch contacts each time, and they work for a while... then fail again, causing the cancelling unit to click...

    GN400 minimalist (cafe) truck-bike

So it's not a wing... actually, very much the opposite... This is a Suzi GN400 that I bought half-missing, but with a clean title, good tires, and perfect for making into a minimalist kick-start lightweight cafe-type bike to tuck inside my service truck. Granted... this was in 2001... 18 years...

Project: Build trailer to haul the GL1200 ASPY

Hi Everybody! Okay, so, my job is kinda unique, in that most of my work time is between home and my office, but every six-eight weeks or so, I get sent somewhere to do a job. When I do, it could be to either east, west, or gulf coast, to within sight of Mexico, or any of the lower 8 provences...

    Help me with Christmas hints...

Okay everybody... I've been asked by family... what do I want for Christmas... Well, a set of heated grips, and a new windshield for my "84 GL1200A. Which heated grips have 'yall used... and which ones would you reccommend that I either avoid, or ask for? And what replacement windshields...

Tell me if this is 'normal'...

GL1200, 1984 Aspencade. Rolling down country roads in 5th gear. There's an S-curve, about a 35mph curve on most days. I coast into it, then roll on gently to come out. Yeah, I'm lugging it a bit... down to 1750 indicated on the digital tach. At that speed, I hear and feel LOTS of tertiary...

    Washed my GL1200 tonight!

It was a perfect night to wash off all the road grime, bugs, and dust... clear skies, warm, kinda muggy, but a nice breeze blowing form the east. Unfortunately, I was kinda busy- my band had a wedding reception to place downtown, and there was a parade going on that was going to block our...

    Dis-integrated brakes

Hey All- Okay, so on my GL1200, I've put 5k miles on it (it's at 17k now). The brakes were all gone through by previous owner at 10,000 miles (it sat for a LONG, LONG TIME). Just for background, I'm a bicyclist... was a competetive cyclist for a half-dozen years, have over a half-million...

    What was he thinking?

Yep, it's old. '84. Dirty, like I commute 25 miles each way to work, with a mile and a half of gravel at the start and finish of each day... some cracked and missing plastic here and there, one saddlebag cover of alternative color.... Stumbling a little, dropping the #1 cylinder at idle...

    'notchy' shifter feel

Hey all- So my '84 GL1200 had 11,000 or so on the odo when I got it last year. I'm at a smidgen shy of 17K now, and on my second oil change. I'm getting a kinda bindy-notchy feel out of the shifter, like the engine isn't 'liking' the oil. Granted, I didn't have any Spectro Golden or...

Saturday Cruise- Upper Mississippi River Valley

Yesterday, I took my daughter on a short day-cruise up the Mississippi River Valley. Started in LeClaire, Iowa... went north to Clinton, crossed into Illinois, up 84 to Savannah, Illinois, north to Hanover, then a short jaunt east on 20 to Elizabeth, where we wandered through a few antique...

    Finally a GL-1200 owner...

After owning a CX500D for 29 years and over 350,000 miles, I finally got the handlebars of a GL-1200 in my paws. I rode it about a quarter of a mile prior to driving it up on the trailer, and just got it home a few hours ago. :hi: I'll be in for some learning curve time over the next few...
