I hated the sound of the single horn on Val and it was desperately in need of some cosmetic improvement so I decided to install a Bad Boy concealed underneath on the kickstand crossmember.
The new horn before cutting a slot in the bracket to take a stainless hose clamp
Slot cut with hose clamp threaded through the bracket
Securely clamped up with twin core wire installed on the terminals
Tucked up higher than the exhaust pipes lowest point
Relay, fuse holder and wiring tucked behind the rh side cover

Now add Big Bad Max in line with that, and you've got two tone noise!

I bought the electric wolo this morning for my Valk. Not installed yet. I had to rewire my truck headlights.

Funny story on how I ended up with my Wolo Bad Boy:

I'd just finished installing my Showchrome spots and was out on the very FIRST TRIP with them blazing brightly. A nice little, quite old lady cut RIGHT in front of me as I was making a left turn. I went for the horn and got the ole feeble "meep, meep". She threw both arms up in shock at seeing a huge motorcycle nearly on her hood. Decided right then and there a real horn was the next upgrade.

I chose to put mine in the open spot beside the fuel petcock. The chrome version fits there nicely and looks like it belongs. I tied the relay in next to the one for my new lights. Literally did them on back to back days due to the incident noted above.

Best horn found yet, :good: it's lot's of fun letting it go into the open window of the ass h--- that pulled in front of you, :yahoo: in the left lane, with no one behind you. :sensored: Only to put on his brake's, left turn signal, stop in front of you, & wait for an opening.

Love you deluxe chromed BadBoy install near the fuel tap :good: As mine was only the poverty model it is much more suited to being mounted under the bike.
Any chance of some more pics of your Showchrome spotlights and your mounting setup.
:beg:

I have the Stebil Nautilus horn which is basically the same horn and around here that there horn gets a good workout! On my 1100, I adapted an original 1100 horn mount to accept the horn and mounted in the same place.

I'm pretty sure Wolo (Chinese) shamelessly copied Stebil (German, I think). The Wolo is a good bit cheaper and I'm a cheapskate, so....

I attached my Showchrome spots with Kuryakyn brackets. I don't recall the tube diameter (it's been a while), but here's a link to what I believe is the bracket I have:

They're nicely turned pieces:

That is actually a brilliant idea, but I think the Stebil looks more at home in that location on a dresser than on my naked GL1000. I've toyed with various ideas for an alternate horn for it, but never really settled on an alternative. Besides, for whatever reason, the two horns on the 1000 give a much better note than the miserable single factory Valk horn.

Still, this has got me thinking again about another horn for the '78...

You missed the edit button at the bottom of your post? I think you have an hour to edit then if editing needs done you need to contact one of the mods. Correction as you have just done is also perfectly acceptable.

I am absolutely not smart enough to figure out how to edit a post on this board (I belong to a bunch, I must be getting Alzeihmer's).

The link I provided above to the Kuryakyn clamps is not correct. Here's a link to the clamps I have:

https://www.kuryakyn.com/products/531/magnum-quick-clamps

Thankyou for the links. Both clamps look great but I like the idea of the Kuryakyn ones being out of stainless. I think I will try and find a set of their cruising pegs as well in the future.

I had only installed a 15a fuse in the supply circuit to my Bad Boy horn which blew during extended use today on my ride. When I pulled up for coffee I used the spare 20a as a replacement which I then replaced with another 20a when I was home.
I have used the horn plenty of times but always a quick blast which was never a problem for the 15a fuse before. I guess today's frustrations required a longer blast than normal. :whistling:

Whoa! I'm using a 15A fuse on my Wolo circuit AND my Showchrome spotlights are on the same circuit. They are always on. Never blown a fuse yet.

You must really have laid down on that horn...

:music:
Maybe Darrell
Perhaps I should make sure that there aren't any problems underneath where I mounted it. :whistling:

Hope you get that sorted. I have noticed that these horns demand solid connections to work well. I once had a loose spade connector and the horn barely sounded.

But since you revived this thread, and since I just had to deal with my Wolo last weekend, I thought I'd add some more chatter on the topic. I blatantly showed off my recently acquired right-side chrome transmission cover on your cruising peg thread. (The set was well-used and I had gone to the fellow's place after an "8 gallon tank" he had for sale. The tank was a bust, but he had these covers.

Installation of the left cover forced me to modify the orientation of the Wolo since my chosen spot is just behind the carbs on the left side. Since it was hot, I did a quick hack job, but will need to fashion a new, shorter bracket since this one is now far too ugly and conspicuous.

I can't make anything out as it is way too shiny now in that last picture! :smilie_happy:
I did climb under to check my horn and everything looks good so we will see how it goes. You must have the shiny low current version.

Wow! The exact same thing happened to me. I've had the Wolo horn installed for quite some time and had always used short bursts. Not long ago, I was in a situation where a more spirited application of decibels was needed. Yup. Blew the 15A fuse. I'm going to stay with 15A, but just be aware of the current draw.

Besides, rarely is a long air horn blast ever needed.
