The two tabs on my Battery cover are broken. I'm sure someone on here has had this problem. I didn't notice this when I picked up this cover of of eBay and it wasn't listed. I didn't notice as I put the covers on the shelf until I went to paint them. Pics made it look like they were there. But anyway. Anyone have a good solution to making my side cover functional?

I am not sure what the '78 covers look like on the back side, but here is a vendor on Ebay that sells pins that fix the problem on the 1100 covers. It seems that they cover the GL1000 too!

Thanks but the GL1000s 78 and 79 have tabs on the top that set into a loop.

But I did solve my problem very nicely. I took a piece of sheet metal about 1.5 to 2 inches wide and bent it around the tab support then bent it around to reform the tab. pressed it on snug, and it slid over just like the original ones. No drilling or riveting involved. Made a nice clean tap and you can't see it. If it gets lose over time I may just JB weld it to hold it on. I'm relying on Friction and Gravity to hold it in place. I'll post pics later when I take it off to install the Goldwing Badges.
