Now that the oil leak has been contained - wanted to touch base with y’all and see what’s out there. Pretty sure my radiator has a pinhole leak somewhere which I’ll deal with at a radiator shop...but how about the cooling fan...

I read a while back somewhere that the fan can be replaced with a newer upgraded style of some sort and switched on a 12v circuit in the event the thermostatic control failed or fails...since there seems to be a good number of y’all on here that mod these bikes I figured I’d ask and see what’s been done versus what hasn’t. Personally I’d rather have mine switched than controlled by the thermostat but haven’t made that leap of “I need to modify” something else on this bike!

The fan always should have 12V power running to it when the ignition is in the "On" position.

The fan is controlled by a thermoswitch that provides a path to ground when warm. Electrically, all you need to do is tie into the wire going into the thermoswitch and provide a (mechanically switched) path to ground.
