The Gold Witch is in need of a new set of speakers. I found some NOS originals and they were better than what was in it, but I want to replace them. I still have the Clarion speaker box but with get rid of those if need be. Welcome the suggestions. Not an audiophile.

I've been considering marine speakers but haven't yet made a choice. Seems to be a lot of options on ebay and amazon.

I was looking at those too and it seems to make sense. I wonder if there would be any problems mounting on the fairing without those speaker boxes? Shouldn't be.

Yeah, that was a slick install. I'm running POLK audio speakers but not too happy with them, I think they are meant to be part of a 4, 6 or 8 speaker group. Size is the problem(clarity/loudness), I'm thinking of getting 6x9's that I'll mount in the two fairing pockets.

*Also, some speakers lie about the size, these POLK speakers are sold as 5" but they are really 4.5 inches. I'm sure it's listed somewhere on the box but not on the POLK website.

IMHO.

Most 4" speakers will work. the bigger the magnet, the better they work, just make sure to damp them down real good in the fairing to avoid vibration.

But then I took mine off because I never could hear 'em right anyhow!

I've been using Boss Audio 4" speakers for the past few years. The price for a pair of speakers is below $30.00, so if they get wet, I am not out a lot of money to buy a new set. They give you a decent amount of sound when you consider that you are listening to a stereo when also competing with wind noise.

Maybe I should think about bigger speakers and forget about the 4" enclosures???? I have seen foam behind speakers so I'm glad that came up.

Good idea if you like your tunes a bit fuller and louder.
