For reasons not worth going into I have a rare Saturday off today. I decided to go on my usual cruise loop from my house to Boulder Hwy, down to the freeway and back to my apt. I takes about 40-45 mins, and with the weather we've had lately it's about all I can stand. This morning was different. I was cruising down the highway on my way back and decided to pass my usual exit and go on to the next. It was beautiful out, 70somethingF no wind and the sun was behind dense monsoonal clouds. As I was coming up on the next exit this little voice in my head cried "Aw hell no, I'm going to the DAM!" :Egyptian: Light traffic was falling behind me as I cruised silkily along at 80-85mph, tunes cranked up through my helmet intercom speakers...complete and utter freedom. It was GLORIOUS.

The SUN finally burnt through the clouds 1 mile from home. :yahoo: I really need to get a GoPro camera, I passed 5 double decker tour busses on the DAM itself and all the people in the upper deck front seats waved back at me as I waved to them when we passed...it was so cool.

Nice ride. Last time I went across the Hoover was in 1988 in an 18 wheeler. I've heard they don't allow big trucks to cross the dam anymore, is that true. It was an awesome sight.

Yep, no big rigs at all, that's one of the reasons they built that huge flyover bridge in one of the pics. On my side of the dam you have to drive through a security check point a couple miles before the dam thanks to 9/11.

Your a lucky man, nice weather and scenery.
Here a bit of trivia..The last death in construction at Hoover was a fall from one of those 4 towers.

Nice ride O. We took the run out there 2 years ago and it was pretty cool even though it is a road to no where now. It certainly was a lot more populated the time we were there with a lot of traffic in the parking lot on the other side of the dam. We didn't get to travel on the new bridge last time and hope to travel on it this time when we are back there.
