Just an FYI, while looking up other info in the Honda shop manual, I found that Honda DOES recommend 20/50 for hotter climates like mine. :cheeky: I guess one just needs to switch during the winter to 10/40.

Just tossing this out there. . .Here in the northeast (US), the temperature swings so much, it's hard to decide what to use. (An old joke: Don't like the weather in New England? Wait a minute.) I've used 15W40 since I've had my 83 Interstate.
 
I run 15/50 mobil 1 in my 81'. Shifts smooth and has no effect on the clutch slipping.
 
I usually run a 10/40 bike oil, and have good luck here. This last oil change, when I had the engine out, I went back with Rotella 15/40....so far, so good.
