So there I wuz last Thursday, drivin along, mindin my own dadgum bidness, and I see this thing going down the street....

Feller ridin it was a middle eastern guy...in full middle eastern garb...long robe, sandals, sunshades, bushy black beard, a big ol grin, and....a turban..... :ahem: Had a cute little chickadee on behind him. Lucky bastige.....

Then...this mernin, ridin in to werk, I see THIS.....

Actually heard it before I seen it. Sounded like someone ridin a dert bike down the freeway. Get a little closer, and this guy is in full protect mode...full leathers w/armor, gloves, knee boots, and full face headgear. Justa bustin down the road....

Don't think I've ever seen a Royal riding around here, and dang iffin I dint see TWO of them just a few days apart!

These are both singles, Joe. Big ones, but singles none the less. Guess Royal is selling a bunch of the newer ones these days. Still neat to see them....they do bring back some of the good old days, at least just from looking at them. :good: :moped:

I don't miss getting a charlie-horse but I do love the thumpers, probably allot more refined with today's technology, not those bastards of yesteryear.

Yeah, they are both new from India.
Looks like carb'ed but actually fuel injected.

I want ChangJiang (sp?) from China. A BMW /2 copy... w/o sidecar probably.

Isn't that just a copy of the Ural? I wouldn't mind one... side car would be nice.. I have had a close up inspection of the military sidecar one... not enough on the street to still be interesting... and they expect the owner to work on them

Oh yeah,.. Joel nice relation of your experience seeing these.. yeah don't see many of them around the DFW... although Kawasaki did bring a 650 into its model line resembling a British royal Enfield.. iirc about 13 years ago

I have never seen one for real , only pictures. . . but i rode one of them big single cyl. Suzuki's years ago...... like a 650 Savage I think it was called. . . even out on the road sounded like it was at fast idle...... :smilie_happy:

Wikipedia says:

The CJ750 motorcycle is based on the 1956 Soviet IMZ (Irbitski Mototsikletniy Zavod) M-72 which was derived from the 1938 BMW R71.

Yes, so it is a Soviet copy. Did IMZ become Ural?
They have powerless (LOL) side-valve engine so I guess pretty slow with sidecar attached.
I watched Chang Jiang solo motorcycle (w/o sidecar) on YouTube and was pretty cool.
