I took a diversion form working on the Wing to get my main ride, the Kawasaki, in top condition. Now that it's happy, I'm getting back on that single carb conversion I talked about months ago. I tore down the carb assembly to have a look at the plenum box to see if I could make that work until I got the real one fabbed. I can't see a way to adapt the VW carb to it without a significant bit of machining and/or welding and if it's that much trouble I might as well wait for the real one. I'm open to suggestions. The biggest problem is the VW carb must be spaced up enough for the linkage to clear. That's at least 3/4". I'll visit the plumbing department tomorrow and see if anything might help.

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of a sidecar. I don't have to worry about keeping the 675lb. machine upright or trying to pick it up if I fail to. The extra space would allow a much larger battery and I'd like to set it up to be able to hold the front wheel of another bike to tow it. I've been looking at homebuilts and it doesn't look too hard. Maybe I'll get lucky and one will show up on craigslist.

well been lot of single carb work done here lately ...on both one barrel vw carb and 2 barrel dft carb ... dkl ..831200 and others are doing great with a pvc manifold design ....the cost on this i quite low if you have carb already ...

Where can I find threads on these pvc manifolds? I've read Squirt's blog about his plastic and RTV monstrosity. I'd like to do something a wee bit neater. I have to dig around but I think I have some 1/4" PCV sheet stashed away.....
