It appears to be on my 78 the engine number is1001429.The first and 4th number are scratched up.It could be 4001429
trying to identify my engine size

According to my spec sheet from z-1 it's a 1000 if the motor # starts with GL 1E-400001 and up for 1978 and the frame # starts with GL 1-4000001 and up

I bet it is 40001starting numbers.Thank you.So you looked on z1? As in z1 enterprises, the kz supplier? I knew they had some gs suzuki stuff.
Yes I have a print out from them on Honda models and years for beginning frame and engine numbers
