My 86 1200A has the original AM/FM/Cassette radio. The radio still works, but I don't have a cassette to check the player.

Is there any good reasons to keep the original setup? Better resale value by keeping it stock? More apt to sell if a new AM/FM/USB/SD radio is installed?

To me, a radio on a motorcycle is a waste since I would rather hear the wind and the machine than music. If I rode 2-up, an intercom might be appropriate.

I think all stock Honda radio stuff is *****(never heard 1800/newer). I say load up with some good stuff. I like the sound of the bike blabity bla bla bla too, but then I near stuff that makes me obsess.

Only advantage I know is stock look. I don't resell so that's not been a consideration. I too would rather listen to the bike and my own thoughts.

For what it takes to put in an aftermarket I think I would just keep it in there, you can get cassette adaptors you shove in to use an Ipod or other source if needed.

I have headsets in my helmets and I listen to the radio through them. you will loose that with an after market radio, the cb and comm goes through the factory radio, you will loose those also. even if you don't listen to the radio while riding its nice to be able to turn it on while parked and get a weather report

Question resolved. Cassette player does work, so will use cassette adapter and MP3 player when I want to hear my music. It keeps the stock look and allows modern inputs.

Thanks, ZMan
