    Pulse generator compatibilty

I just picked up a 2000 Valkyrie that has been setting a few years because of no spark. I'm finding it is much easer to find Goldwing parts than Valktrie parts. Although they have different part numbers, will a 1500 Goldwing pulse generator fit a Valkyrie?

    Galfer break lines

Will this brake line set work on my 78 GL1000? The description says it is for a 79, but what's the difference? https://www.ebay.com/itm/251459403962

    Removing rear wheel bearings

I thought I had a problem with the rear brakes, but it turns out my rear wheel is wobbling, causing the break pads to over open. I see I will need to fabricate a pin tool to get the bearing retainer nut out of the left side of the wheel hub. How is the right bearing removed? It is not in the...

    Neutral light always on

I am going to attempt replacing the neutral switch with engine in the bike. Once the bolt next to the switch is removed, does the switch just pop out? The manual says remove the bottom engine mount bolt and flex the fame. How much will it flex without damage and what tool do I use to flex it...

    Left side cover, (battery cover)

I was able to pick up a cover on e-bay. It was cheap because a chunk of it on the top that has the front hanger tab was missing. Fortunately, I was able to cannibalize the extra right cover I had. I cut out the piece needed and welded it in using scrap plastic and a soldering iron. I believe the...

1981 GL1100 Carburetor and Starter issues

I hade the same white steam billowing out the right pipe on an 82. Replacing the head gasket fixed it. You said one plug was wet. Was it also steam cleaned?

    78 GL1000 Project complete

Thanks for the help and advice in working through the issues on bringing this bike back to life. When I picked it up, it was one step away from the scrap yard. Now it is a decent looking, useable bike. It is far from a show bike, but a classic with pantina. I had it on the interstate yesterday...

Parts Wanted 78 GL1000 side cover

Thanks, but I don't think it will work. this is a pic of the right cover. The left cover needs to be a simular shape.

    Left side cover, (battery cover)

When I picked up my project 78 GL1000, all covers and many parts were off the bike and in two boxes. I did a quick inventory of the boxed parts and verified 2 side covers were there. Now that I'm at a point of putting covers back on, I discover what I though was left and right side covers...

front brake lever going all the way to grip

Wow Gerry, You nailed it. Just rotating the calipers to get the bleed valves to 12 o-clock got a little burp of air out of each caliper. Lever travel is now normal.

front brake lever going all the way to grip

78 GL1000. The brake lever starts engaging the brakes about 3/4 way in. If I squeeze hard it will go all the way to the grip. I rebuilt both calipers and master cylinder with K&L kit 32-1324. I bleed the brakes until clean fluid and no air was comming out of bleed valves. I reverse bleed by...

    carburetor top broken plastic

Interestingly, I'm not sure a good seal is needed. With the carbs on the bench and a shop vac attached to them, the slides moved the same when the throttle plates were opened and closed, on the carbs with broken caps and those with intact caps. If you would have told me sooner I could of saved a...

Where do I plug in the headlight?

Thanks for checking that on your bike. It gives me more search options knowing 75 -78 will work. Your right I am trying to fix up this bike on the cheap. I don't want to get into a situation where I have way more money into the bike than what its worth. Always going oem can get you there...
