Motor tech talk about my dive into EFI ON A C4 VETTE TUNE PORT INJECTION

🤣🤣 Joe, you know that is what all PO's say! (Of course we know Hooch was running when parked, but...)

    1981 GL1100 Shelter Stripes

Here is where I got my decals when I repainted my '82 a few years back. You have to buy a whole decal set. The individual decals are not sold anywhere. https://kz900.com/decals/decals-honda-goldwing-81-84.html

Can't stop gas leaking past float needles

Well, an OEM pump does hold up when operating, but when they sit for long periods without operating, the rubber diaphragm dries out and cracks. (I mean, they are over 40 years old on average.) Ethanol based gas just make it worse.

On these forums, we do not believe any question is a dumb question. Would rather have folks come here, ask questions and learn than be berated, embarrassed or just afraid to ask a question because of the type of response you posted. It might be simple work to folks that have been around bikes...

    82 interstate refurb

FYI, the chrome valve covers are aftermarket. Removing the chrome might not produce a decent valve cover. Might be better to get a set of OEM valve covers from Ebay and polish them up. Also, the chrome valve covers had a tendency to leak at the bottom. Will be following your progress!

    Found something… pics coming soon!

The bike with the Voyager looks like an '83 1100 Interstate.

Can't stop gas leaking past float needles

It is both age and ethanol gas.

Can't stop gas leaking past float needles

Do you still have your original needles? If so, clean the rubber tips with emory cloth (sands the rubber off) to remove any hardened gunk and try them back in the carbs first. How does the gas get past the petcock when closed? Well, that has always been a mystery with classic goldwings. My...

    what did you do today

Just watching old videos of the Slug from when I was trying to determine what all the engine noise was at high RPM. (It was rod knock from a completely worn out engine.)

Tuning or cleaning? Be the sleuth!

I only used the tach on the bike. Actually, I didn't even look at the tach, I just listened for the changes. The pics above with the fuel shown at the carbs, was that only when you rebuilt them 2 years ago? The plugs are really lean. There is a good chance your jets are getting gummed. With...

    Reg/Rec

Here is the schematic for the '86 Interstate/Aspencade charging system including the R/R. Without seeing the new R/R, it will be difficult for us to know if will work. As far as Randakks showing it as a replacement part, that may be true, but you still need the wiring schematic to know how to...

Tuning or cleaning? Be the sleuth!

After the carbs were rebuilt, did you perform an idle drop procedure? The starting point for the ''82-'83 pilot screw is 3 turns out. Here is the procedure from the overhaul manual:

Motivate me on changing cam belts

So, it is common to find the right side off one tooth and the timing out a bit. When the belts are changed, you have to keep the right side pulley pushing backwards against spring pressure while setting the left belt (left and right as you sit on the bike). Many folks set both belts with no...

Motivate me on changing cam belts

36K miles over the life of the bike? Likely the belts have never been changed since '86? I would strongly recommend changing the belts. They deteriorate with age (heat and time) and give zero warning before breaking. These are interference engines so if one of the two belts break while at...

Tuning or cleaning? Be the sleuth!

A couple of quick questions. Is this the way it ran even since the original rebuild two years ago or is this a recent change?
