    1985 GL1200 Limited ECU Replacement/Upgrade - Part 2

I've never seen the vacuum up in the "green" scale at idle on the gauges like you'd expect. Not sure why that is, might be the gauge is designed for V8 engines?

Anyone out there? Stranded with what is probably obvious to old timers.

That's a "never blow" fuse for sure. Got you home, but man that's risky. Let us know when you find the culprit.

    Voltage reading

I would verify that meter with a known accurate digital VOM.

    synching 1200 carbs

Are they sync'ed to #4 on 1200's? Interesting the earlier years were sync'ed to #3

    Main fuse blown

I understood it as repeatedly blowing. If it blew just the one time then it could just be age, the one I had on mine was brittle and fell off in pieces.

    Main fuse blown

That fuse should never blow if you have no added loads like driving lights added. There has to be a load somewhere that's exceeding the 30 amp capacity, or a momentarily shorting wire to ground. You'll need to look the wire harness over very carefully for a frayed or pinched wire.

    Engine guards

On my 83 they can be dissassembled and cleaned. Worked great after

    1978 GL1000 resto project

Does exhaust smell of gas like it's flooding, or more like it's running out of gas? From what I heard it could be either. Does it have to crank a lot to restart?

    starter keeps going bad

Certain parts like this I won't get from Amazon unless it comes from a reputable supplier. Same goes for LED bulbs. A lot of Chinesium from Amazon.

    GL1000 shifting to neutral issues

Whenever I've run 20/50 I had hard shifting. Not sure if it was clutch not releasing or what. 10/30 has always been the magic number for me.

    what did you do today

Nice. Did you put the shield and bags on it? I rode one of his Kawasaki's from his place to Joes, don't remember it having either.
