My 1st. Goldwing... My 3rd. Vintage Rebuild

You should gain a couple mpg when you fix the brakes.

Thanks! This was my fourth set to rebuild, so I have seen many of the things that cause frustrations. A good set of JIS screwdrivers, US cleaner, and patience helps. I could never do this for profit - way too slow. It was gratifying with this old set to have them leak test perfect the first...

Finally back in the garage (wife got me a new Fire TV for hanging from the ceiling there). Carbs are clean, rebuilt, and leak tested. Next is cleaning the engine so it can be repainted.

    1985 GL1200 Limited ECU Replacement/Upgrade - Part 2

Yeah, Honda is big on splicing ground wires together in the midst of a wrapped-up run. My guess that it is an attempt at "single point" grounding.

    How is everyone??

Much better. Recovering from the Wuhan Flu that went through our family the beginning of the month. Still a little chest congestion but better each day. Haven't worked on the GL for a couple weeks. Need to finish carb reassembly and then start engine clean-up.

Looks like contacts for marker and turn lights. Probably for a fairing. Hopefully, NOT spliced in with Scotchloks.

Kind of stalled for a bit. Thanksgiving week was busy, then our family came down with Covid, so now we are isolating, and this is the first day that I've felt like getting out of bed. The usual respiratory symptoms were tough but manageable. The headaches really knocked me out, though. Finally...

Could be low battery, bad connections, several other things.

Can accomplish so much more with the Triumph out of the way. Rear wheel, brake, fender, etc. out and then tank out. Headers and muffler (shot full of holes). Next, remove the front brakes and footpegs. Rear drive came off easy after the snap ring (not too big a struggle, but went through all of...

Parts Wanted Wanted: '75-'77 GL1000 RIGHT side exhaust header

Seems odd to me that the right side is rotted out, while the left is just a little rusty. Let me know if you have something. I've already obtained a decent muffler. This is for my "Pete" project '75 GL1000.

Not a lot today. Carbs are pretty much all clean. Waiting for o-rings to assemble. Moved the Triumph out of the garage and into the shed today - that gives me a lot more room to work on the GL.

    what did you do today

The Honda FSM is available as a free pdf download from several sites. If you are going to work on a GL1000, you really need it.

Do you have the Honda FSM? It is spelled out fairly clearly in it.
