    Fuel Pump Question

on my gl1000 I did this using a '85 honda prelude pump. might work on your gl1200? https://classicgoldwings.com/threads/installing-electric-fuel-pump-on-my-76.7930/

if you ever decide to add tip switch here is a cartoon schematic for hooking it up. I used an 85 gl 1200 tip switch.

very nice. I used a pump from a honda prelude ( I think ) on mine. You might look into putting a tip over fuel cutoff switch from a newer goldwing in case you lay the bike down someday. It will cut power to electric fuel pump which might come in handy.

upper half of fairing is from mid 80's ninja and lower half I had to widen and form around the cam covers. side panels I just glassed the tank and panel together as 1 piece. used a shoebox as form to glass the under seat panel that covers the rear fender for looks. mufflers are stock harley...

    super glue and baking soda

running great. But if I let the bike sit too long it will crank slow and take a while to start. I think it's mostly the ignition system but money says it will stay like it is now, no electronic upgrade in near future. It has enough power that if I get on it real hard with secondary I have...

    super glue and baking soda

Thanks Joe, not getting rid of it as I like it myself. Just thought I'd like to be able to change look back and forth when I felt like it and had some broken down covers in the shed. Plus once in awhile I would like to show the single carb which is mostly hidden by gas tank side of the one...

    super glue and baking soda

here are two pics of finished tab repair and ear repair. this is a quick fix so detail is not great, not restoration quality. I just wanted to be able to stick on stock covers to replace my one piece tank/side cover that you can see in my avatar. so far happy with superglue and baking soda for...

    super glue and baking soda

tried soaking the unpainted tab repair ( although just for a few minutes ) no noticeable softening or crumbling. dave also tried to use on a polypropylene plastic, did NOT work at all. oh well

    super glue and baking soda

so far I sanded it and hit it with gray sand-able auto primer. I read somewhere direct sun was no good. Will have to see if paint protects against sun. also started a repair on hole area of side cover that was really wasted. Ear was completely broken off from rest of cover here is a pic and I...

    super glue and baking soda

saw a you tube of a guy repairing plastic using super glue and then immediately sprinkling baking soda on the glue. Almost instant bond and hard. So I thought I would try it on a old side cover that was missing a tab. Used a piece of L-shaped steel as tab replacement and glued it to plastic side...

    rich or lean?

maybe even ignition points kinda bouncing at high rpm causing a miss or kinda popping noise. just one more possibility as we can't really hear what you describe. dave

Gas mileage with the single carb set-up(s)

I'm in north san diego county and use no heat on my set up. I can say that 1\4 turn on my idle mixture screw made the difference between off-idle dead spot and no dead spot in throttle response.( just got to find the sweet spot ) can't say what heat would do as I haven't tried it. idle between...
