    Neutral Light Related Snafu

Now what have I done? I have tried all the wonderful suggestions you fine fellow Wingnuts have offered about my neutral light staying on. So far I have not resolved the problem, but will do an oil and filter change before collapsing into tears. Right now I have a 10 amp, 50 watt "DigiKey"...

    Neutral Light Stays On

Hey Dan, I tried your version of the fix to no avail. All the symptoms suggested I was on the right track with respect to the test light diagnosis, but even a zap straight to the switch from the (+) battery connection while in neutral didn't work. I only just touched the lead for a sec, and did...

    Neutral Light Stays On

Thank you, sir, I much appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge with me. Charlie P.S. I'll let you know if I burn down the neighborhood trying this fix.

    Neutral Light Stays On

Hi Dan, Thanks for the reply. At the risk of sounding stupid, doesn't disconnecting the neutral switch wire eliminate the path through the switch you want the electricity to take? I'm a little confused as to exactly what you're doing. Also, any idea where the 5 pin wiring harness connector would...

    Help Ressurrecting Aluminum Fork Tubes

The Happich Simichrome paste worked well to remove the blackish caste I got from the oven cleaner and restored the fork tubes to the condition they were in before I screwed 'em up. Thanks for the help.

    Neutral Light Stays On

Thanks Dan, When you say you had better success after "shorting it in neutral", are you suggesting you did the one thing the guy say to avoid and shorted it back to the positive battery source while it was in neutral? And that is what conquered the problem? I'm not disputing it, but I don't want...

    Best Air Filter Source?

Sorry if this isn't the perfect place to post this, but can anyone recommend the cheapest place to get a replacement air filter element for my GL1100? I'd be much obliged. Charlie

    Neutral Light Stays On

Hi, I just returned from a fantastic two week road trip through Colorado. When I left, the green neutral light on the instrument cluster worked as it should; namely, only when in neutral. As the trip went on I had more and more instances where the neutral light would come on while I was in gear...

    1981 HONDA GL1100 GOLDWING FOR SALE - $2750

I finally made the decision to "upgrade" to a GL1800. It won't be easy, but I have to let the old girl go. Very nice shape with 39K original miles. Garage kept, well maintained, never down. New tire on back, front good for awhile. Comes with Starcom1 Advance intercom/audio management device PLUS...

    Help Ressurrecting Aluminum Fork Tubes

Help!!! :swoon: I think I just did something really dumb and I need to know if there's a way out. I recently returned from a 4000 mile trip through Colorado (Awesome, by the way). My bike was filthy, as you might imagine. It was caked with road tar and bugs and dirt. I decided I'd use oven...

    Backrest from Vencowings OK?

Good Grief! I no sooner send you a post about not seeing the photo of your backrest and then I return to the thread and there it is. I don't get it. Why wasn't the pic there the first time?

    Backrest from Vencowings OK?

Dan, Did you post a pic of the backrest assembly you have? You referred to it as though there was a pic attached, but I see nothing. It could be me. Chaz

    Backrest from Vencowings OK?

I've got the factory saddle on my 81 GL1100 and it's comfortable enough except for long rides when my back gets sore. I was given a tip that Vencowings out of New Hampshire sells an aftermarket backrest for $151.00. Is anyone familiar with this unit and, if so, would you recommend it? Or, does...

    Hello Fellow Wingnuts

Hey, thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and a special thanks to Omega Man for the link to the pic resizing program. Slick? Just what the doctor ordered. Looking forward to learning more and sharing what little I know.

    Hello Fellow Wingnuts

If posting photos is as hard as the time I'm having trying to post a photo of myself as an avatar, I don't know if it'll be worth the effort. I can't seem to make a photo smaller than 130 X 171 and it needs it no bigger than 130 X 160.

    Hello Fellow Wingnuts

Hello, I've been riding a while but am fairly new to forums and the like. Also, just joined GWRRA and look forward to the benefits of that. I ride an '81 GL1100 that I dearly love and am, in fact, leaving for Colorado (from northern Minnesota) this coming Saturday morning (7/24). We (my wife Sue...
