ok in recent work ive set the bike for pusher fan ..to go along with this im going to beef the forks up ...going to either add vw valve springs to 1000 springs ...im also going to check and make sure the bigger springs of the 1200 wont slide in ... i dont take the nayers cants seriously ..there just wrong to much ...well see ...with hocches power it a bit spongy ....with the motor lift i can really stret the forks out to help here .. :builder: :thanks:

ok 1200 springs just wont work ...going to look at 1200 valve springs as a spacer now....my springs just sag to much for me want to add pressure underneath to start out higher as hooch sits ...semms to go down several inches from bike weight ...prestrest the springs so its taller is the plan dan ...this should help keep fender out of pusher fan under hard braking or pot hole or something .. :builder: :thanks:

wow 1200 spring worked both of them inner and outer 1200 valve springs...really tough job ...one more to do ..i can tell already this is going to work great .... :builder: :thanks:

ok crummy pic ..but its a broomstick with a 5/16"impact driver strait bit implanted screwdriver part towards boomstick..this fits the 1000 fork cap ...

image.php

with fork pull all the way up to top side of the forks so spring is the longest ...i took one fork cap off ....and pulled spring out

this is fork cap notice the mark on it ..this is where the threads start on bottom of fork cap...with spring out i put cap in and seen where the sweet spot was to match threads in fork ...this is very helpful..with the extra springs its not easy to start the caps at all... got to know where everything is to give it your shot..as it takes good pressure and even effort to start threads with this kind of torque to control ...its why you need long handle broom wrench ..this is 2 hand tool and you need it and some some good body control also ...

sorry could not get a shot of me all over this bike like a fight to the death ...the fork beater weapon and result ...both caps are on in this pic

seems like there will firmer bike in corners and plenty of room for pusher fan ..that coming soon

well hooch is on its new springs ...ive sat on the bike big difference ...idont see this as a [rogressive want to be ...the whole idea that i used the 1200 valve spings inner and outter worked on topf stock springs ...really is varible springs rate system may be better than just single rate springs ...bike diffinitly sitting taller from the get go as in picture ...you can see donor 1200 head just off rear wheel.... bike runs...need to zip things up and go for ride :builder: :thanks:

you got that right V ..went for long test ride ... the spring mod along with the darkside car tire that has about 44 lbs of air in it ...the bike feels the road good .. it is very easy now to pic your line and go for it ..hooch was sort of sloppy before feeling and it was easy out power your line and get off ...from lack of feel ...as far as opinion on spring mod it was fantastic ..went a long way in getting bike up to par to handle hooches power ..the gearing is a tall as 1500 and i beleave has way more power ....doing 6omph at less than 3000rpm is a great feeling ..the roll on power there is nice 7omph is right ar 3500rpm...great gearing ..with the car tire it dose seem to add more feel in handling ...to me this was all great ..the input back from road feel makes it more controlable and confident feeling...

i would suggest this spring mod on any oldwing with the proper springs ..for 1000s the 1200 valve springs were perfect match...again while talking with v ..telling him the vw springs i had were HD springs and didnt fit ..he suggested the 1200 valve springs ..great call and perfect mod in my opinion :yahoo: :thanks:
