1980gl1981interstate comparison

hay guys I have a gl1100 1980 and a 1981 interstate one built in japan the 81 built in us- got to say big difference in the running side by side-was the 1980 a detuned version? anyone got any notions to bring the wing back to life?rejets etc thanks

there the same really the 80 must have some issues probably ignition and carb combo type thing ...both system need to be brought up to par ...

when you say ignition what would the abcs of that to check thks

Vacuum advance, mechanical advance, coils, plug wires,resistor caps and timing.

the end caps on the plugs usealy are bad or weak ...they have resistors in them there probably really old ....then the wires are old and leaking spark cuause it cant flow ...and the the coils sometimes have cracks in them and ground ot to frame ....if your bike dont like rain its cause the ignition is way sub par
