1982 GW GL1100A Rear shock replace with manual. Any ideas?

rose- what is it, exactly, that you're asking about the shocks? Replace them with non-air shocks? Those shocks are rebuildable for a very modest cost. You can also upgrade to Progressive Suspension springs. You can find a picture heavy how-to on this.
 
As KYWinger ( post #2 ) says - the rear shocks are rebuild-able for a modest cost. I know for I have rebuilt mine last year. The seals are quite easy to replace and so long as the correct weight oil is used you should find a difference in ride quality. Even the rubber gators are cheap and readily available.
