im removing the engine in my derelict 1100.first,can someone point me to wherever in the factory service manual they show how to attack the snap ring,i cant tell if there is one there.second,on the clutch cable, does the lower pin have a cotter pin attached to it,i cant see nor feel one, also where in the manual does it show how to remove the cable?thanks

Clutch cable is right there in the open. Right rear of the motor near the foot peg. Snap ring is back up inside under the front boot. Need bent snap ring pliers to get it. Several pics in threads here. Also in the 1100 manual in the gallery.

I see the the cable just can tell if there is a cotter pin on the pin thru the bottom of the cable

No cotter pin on the clutch cable. After you loosen the adjuster and have enough slack, the cable end will slip out of the pivot through a slot. Loosen it at the handlebar end as well.

The snap ring is inside the drive shaft u-joint, on the end of the engine output shaft. It's kinda tricky, but with a good pair of angled snap ring pliers, it's not too bad. I use bungee cords to hold the boot back.

Found the snap ring, figured out i need new snap ring pliers, thats for tomorrow morning.got impatient and cut the cable but thanks for the heads up steve

Went to lowes and bought pliers, finally got that damn snap ring out.motor is on the floor.whoo hooo
