A few months ago , I was attracted to the youthful curves of a Valkarie.I am pleased to report that my GL 1100 won the battle for my heart . She has reliably carried me from my home base in Florida to California , Maine and Washington State . I know I made the right decision keeping my trusty steed. After that brief digression, I started to see more and more warnings of soaring gas prices this spring . We all had   :Egyptian: been told that before , but somehow , this time seemed different . My Wing gets around 40 mpg on the highway, but in the 54 mile a day commute, much of it in heavy traffic , I knew she would'nt do much better than my Hyundai Elantra.
My solution : 2004 , 250 NightHawk . She is a little buzzy going through the gears , but quite smoothe in 5th gear. I work two jobs, so I go directly from one job to the other. This is the first time in 30 years , I've owned a bike smaller than a 650 !! I can honestly say , I enjoy my little 250 !! I've added a windshield and a knapsak . I'm good to go !! I read a story on the internet about a gentleman that rode a 250 Nighthawk from Seattle , Wa. to Memphis, Tenn. in 6 days.I'll save my wing for long legged trips . The Hawk is perfect my daily commute. I'm sure you know what the best part is . Even with traffic delays , I still get 75 MPG !!!!!

My son wants to get either one of these or a Suzuki 125 street machine that has come out recently.
That putting 60 or 70 bucks in gas in the tank every time he fills up is really starting to upset him.

I'll have to teach him how to ride, however. Gotta find a really big empty parking lot somewhere.

I was thinking about a getting a rebel once.. 250.. a friend who had one said the mech told him it would not do to commute long distances and hold up... I remarked that honda built 6 cylinder 125 cc racing bikes at one time.. and that should not have been an issue.. I borrowed one later and rode it round trip to work and back down the interstate.. definitely not a interstate cruiser.. handled the speeds but the thing was light in handling and winds off the semi's
