Help Me...Help Me Please!
My low beam is burnt out and I cannot figure out how to replace the bulb.
The front of the fairing only has a screw to adjust the side to side of the beam. The back of the fairing offers only the adjustment of the Up and Down of the beam. What is the trick to getting the bulb out and replaced??
Thanks

The knob on the back of the fairing has a set screw in it. Remove the set screw, and take the knob off. There is a nut and washer there that also needs to come off. Push the threaded rod that the knob goes on thru the fairing forward. The headlight bucket will tilt out, and the bulb can be changed. Be sure to not touch the actual glass part of the new bulb with your fingers, as the natural oils on your fingers can shorten the life of the bulb. Install in reverse order.
Welcome to the CGW forums, btw! :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Make sure you have someone to catch the light, or put a piece of duct tape across the front of the fairring to stop the light from popping too far out and falling to the ground and breaking, sometime they do that.

Yeah what AApple said.. it would help if you had someone to get hold of the light housing when you pushed on the adjuster.. but if you have long arms and can contort you can do it by yourself,., I did

Hi Everyone,
I've read all the posts about headlamp replacement but I have a slightly different problem. The square nut on the vertical adjustment post came off. I found the nut under the headlamp. Yea! I removed the set screw in the adjustment knob but there is no nut to remove. the post is one-piece with a shoulder built in. The shoulder prevents the post from pushing the headlamp assembly forward. What do I do now? Any and all help will be truly appreciated.

Thank you,

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the diagram. The square nut that holds the adjustment shaft (part #3) to part #16 has come off part #3. The adjustment knob was unscrewed to the point where the nut came off. Now I cannot vertically adjust the headlamp. I need to connect the whole thing together again. I think that the headlamp must come out first. But I can't get the headlamp assembly to push forward so that I can reattach part #3 to part #16. I hope this is a clearer explanation.

It sounds to me like the shoulder on part#3 has pulled through the fairing.
I believe that shoulder should be on the headlight side.
If #3 has come loose from #16 then the headlight assembly should pull forward and out.

I should have a headlight assembly I'll take a look at it.

My mistake, there is no shoulder on that center rod. The frame of the assembly sits against the headlight side of the fairing.
These pics should help sort out how the whole thing goes together.

Once the knob, lockwasher, and flat washer are removed the whole assembly should pull out of the fairing.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for the diagram. The beam adjusting nut (part #7) has come off the screw (part #3) because the adjustment knob was turned too far out. When I removed the set screw from the knob, the screw (part #3) came right out the back of the fairing. There was no nut or washer on the screw. I can only assume they came off the screw when it was turned too far. I did find the beam adjusting nut under the headlamp assembly. How can I remove the headlamp assembly so as to reattach the screw (part #3) to setting B ring (part #14).

Hi Dan,

The pictures made all the difference in the world. After looking at them, I realized that I had already removed the nut and washer when I remove the sound box. The center bracket of the sound box is held in place by the same nut and washer. Now I have the whole situation taken care of. Thanks so much for your help.
