83 front wheel - shim between wheel and rotor

I never noticed this before.

I assume it is not available anymore... Well, if it is needed ( and I assume it is ) any substitute?

I have an 80 bike that is going to get 83 wheels. Needless to say the wheels I have didn't come with shims.

Check workshop manual or parts manual for shim location on the different front wheels.

Ansimp- I have an 83 I as well. they are between the rotor and the wheel.

the shims have to be gone on the wheel for it to work with the 80 rotors pony ......the 83 rotors need the shims ...80 dont ..83 is two piece rotor ..80 is one piece shim is the difference between the two

Pony, the shims are not available, but I was able to fix mine with heavy gasket material that I matched up based on the thickness and created a new shim.

McG - yeah, i was beginning to think i'd have do something like that.
