I am looking for what color wires go to the gauges from the engine, lower right. I have a green with blue tape, a blue with red tape, a lighter green plastic sheath, a darker green fabric sheath, and a black with blue stripe. I think one is fan motor, temp sensor, oil pressure switch, temp fan switch, and a player to be named later. The black and blue stripe go to the fan. I can ohm them, but it involves removing the heat shield which I am hoping to avoid. Thanks in advance.

You don't say which model, but maybe this (for an Aspy) will help.

Yes

Well I had twenty minutes this morning, and I am not sure these are the same. I don't know which model 1200 my engine came from. More poking tomorrow. Note to self...need more fuses. Aluminum foil until I get them figured out. If my luck wasn't bad enough, I plugged my little Chinese tIG welder in the other day, grabbed my helmet, turned on the argon, and somebody started shooting 38 specials off in the garage. Both capacitors blew, and blew and blew. I think I'm going to find an old dc welder and use my Chinese solenoids and gas for a little more juice......and it fits my budget.

It might just need a couple of good quality capacitors, then only problem is it is always hard to figure out their value when they have gone off like a couple of 38s

Get me the engine # off the top of the case, right side towards the center of engine just about in line with the fuel pump and I can tell you year/model it is and if it's a california engine or not. It should start with SC 14 E.

I have a friend who'll fix the welder for $70. Cheap enough, but it only has 90 amps capacity on tIG, so I think I'll just find a bigger dc unit to convert. I'd love to go out and buy one that does aluminum too, but it ain't going to happen unless I have the lucky six numbers.

You need a really good ( higher output) welder to successfully weld aluminium...
