I want to pull the pop out vents and install them in a different shield. They are good vents but old. Can I get them out and in without breaking?. Looked at the Vetter site and cannot get the vent video to download.
I am thinking about putting a headphone jack in my cycle sound and a speaker in my helmet. Where can I get what I need for a reasonable price?

Thx

You can buy new snap in vents. Scroll about half way down this page for vents and the video. https://www.craigvetter.com/pages/Online ... ging-28258 You have to download the video and play it on your media player, like RealPlayer or such. Simple removal and install, open vent, squeeze sides inward, lift out, reverse for install. I'd be careful for brittleness since their so old, could break easily.

I just tried the removal and got my yellowed vents out intact but they are badly age cracked and brittle. The new ones are suppose to be made with better material but kinda pricey at 42.00 bucks.

It is just a matter of squeezing (very gently) at the tips on the inside as you pop the vent out. The problem with the new vents is they are not the same size as the hole for the old vents, so caustion is the key...

Files are good, but these do the job a lot better when used in a drill press:

Here is what Craig has to say on the subject:

How do you hold the drill press on the correct angle to enlarge the holes Brian? :smilie_happy:

:0fftopic: and Too Much Info!!!!

I missed the part about the headphone jack... Radio Shack would be a good place as far as the jack is concerned, but in-helmet speakers, I would look at Amazon for the best selection... Lots to choose from and several with a lot of reviews. I have been considering these for some time now to only hook up to my phone when using it as a GPS and for less than $6, if they are junk, I am not out a lot of money.

I have used headphones with the band removed s abd found that at speed the phone audio was drowned out even when on high.. this was in a modular and also full face.... to get usable sound I think you would need an amplifier to boost volume and clarity.... I was surprised by the intercom volume and clarity when I put the headsets in the helmets.. this comparison was done on the wings...
