Hey guys, on my 76 GL, the shop manual says to use the alternator rotor bolt to turn the engine to line
up the marks for valve adjustments, timing, etc.
Surely they jest!
If I'm looking at the right thing, the alternator rotor bolt cover is right up against the
frame on the rear of the engine. I have enough room to get an open ended wrench on the
cover....barely.....but even if I get the cover out, how in the heck am I supposed
to get any tool into the hole to rotate the engine? There is NO room to get
a socket wrench in there! (assuming the end of the rotor shaft has a hex head)
Any suggestions?
Thanks gang!

Offset wrench used here, but I use a small socket on a small rachet handle.

Steve, I don't see the picture you posted. All I get is the word "image".
Thanks for the reply though.
Do you remember what size the alternator bolt is....the one I'm supposed
to turn? If Gerry is getting a 1/4 breaker bar in there, it must be a
pretty small bolt.

P.S. I have the orginal Honda shop manual and it seems to be
sorely lacking in details such as this.
