I ‘ve got the special bolts, the special chamfer bit, & the idler pulley replacements from Rock auto, and the knowledge, BUT…all those things are a month away from availability. If the idler is making little whiny noises, how long before it fails? Can I get another 1000 miles or is that flirting with disaster?

I say I wouldn't risk it but I probably would, short trips anyway. Nobody can say if they'll run another 1000 miles, but I've heard the belts make some noise in normal operation, especially if too tight.
Have you spun the bearings to get a feel?

You can buy those pulleys you have in that pic from any chain parts store

Yes, about $20 from rock auto ( I did the ones in the photo) but the two special bolts come in a bag of 20 for $15. I still have 18 pcs. The special chamfer bit is more money with no drill press to use it on (required). In thirty days I’ll have all that at my fingertips plus a heated shop with a bike lift to save my knees, It can wait.
