basic slideshow software?

I'm looking for slideshow software for pc I can make a start menu similar to a home movie DVD which also displays all the photos so they can be viewed individually, or as a slideshow.
Burnable to DVD to play on a standard DVD player.

I have software to make the slideshow with music but it doesn't give me the choice to display the thumnail images anywhere.

I've found some trialware but I don't want to go through all that downloading and testing to find out it doesn't do what I want.

Any referrals?

Surprising there doesn't seem to be any software out there that'll play in a standard DVD player that starts with a menu to view a slideshow of the pictures or view each picture individually.

I wonder if Kodak would have something you could use... Their photo CDs had a slideshow option, not sure if they got into DVD burning.

I found and bought Magix's Photostory dvd.
Was about $60 download.

It does pretty much everything I need and never crashed! Which is often times amazing in itself.
