Hello all. It's been a while sine I have posted. Last year when my Dad gave me an '85 GL12 in need of "work," I figured that I could get it going and back on the road. Well... after having the bike sit in pieces in my garage all fall, winter, spring... and now summer, I have come to the conclusion that I simply don't have the time, energy or money to rebuild this bike. It really needs a full motor-out rebuild and I just don't have the ability to make that happen. I've completely rebuilt bikes before, but they were smaller engines that could be moved with two or fewer people and were easy(er) to put on a bench.

I guess my question is: Do I just part it our and sell on ebay (insert "vomiting" emoticon here), or put everything back together and try to sell it off a one unit? Or sell it as a basket case? My dad says he paid $500 for (I think he got robbed).

Considering the things you stated: Basketcase in pieces, limited mechanical ability, you think 5 bills was too much when it was whole. I would part it out, it's already in pieces. Old non running wings are hard to sell unless they have some eyeball or potential.

YEP, that is quite a project. For those that need a look, here is his restore thread:

I would not bother with the reassemble considering the current condition. Parting it out will produce quite a bit more than selling as a whole non runner. I would even help out by starting with offering some cash for your trunk (PM sent).
