I picked up a one owner 1999 Ford Escort with 77800 miles on the clock, I tried to offer the old guy $500.00 but he said no, He would take $300.00! Sweet, alls I had to do was weld a small patch onto exhaust near the catalytic converter! It was maintained at the Ford dealer since new and that is why he sold it, they told him it was going to need $2000.00 in repairs, $1200.00 being labor, I welded the pipe and just happened to have a new set of tire in inventory!

It is for my teenage daughter, her F-150 was too expensive for her to keep fuel in, and her old 95 Escort was using 3 quarts of oil to ten gallons of gas!

nice deal - I know all about F-150 gas consumption (mine is an F-100 Ranger and she like the gas thats for sure)

Which is why I prefer my little Ford Rangers. Four cylinders and 5 speed stick. Real tough here finding 14" tires for them now. :headscratch:

my 1990 F-150 has the 300 cui 6 with a 5 speed, I get 18mpg most of the time, I think it is because it has over 300 thousand miles on it! Everything has lots of room to move and roll etc.!!
My daughters has the 5.0 v8 it gets 12 or 13 mpg.

:rocks: Yeppers here is my first Ranger 5 speed 4 liter (305 cubic inch) wasn't a real gas miser but had power to spare. Having said that its still more fun driving the big one. :salute:

ya I agree - don't know that I have seen a more reliable vehicle than that 92 Ranger - when I sent her down the road it had 420 thousand kilometers on it and other than changing the starter a year earlier all I ever did was fix a few brake lines (other than normal Maintenance).

My oldest daughter's 1st car was a red '98 Escort coupe. Put over 158K miles on it. The engine was running like a champ, but she couldn't stop re-shaping the body panels and hood with other peoples cars! :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:
