I was a Honda dealer for 15 yrs up here.and had a gas station and towing and storage business on my acreage near Barrhead. Alberta I am licenced motorcycle mechanic,auto mechanic and weldor. have had my own business since 1976.sold out in 2009, and went to work in Northern British Columbia.for $65.00 hr running and maintaining a small mid stream natural gas plant.got triple time after 10 hrs. always worked 14 to 16 hrs day. Made more money the first 2 weeks than made all yr prior to that at my own Shop ??? almost felt guilty..ALMOST.. did that for year till complained to the boss about a lazy 25 yr old they sent up from Texas and liked to shoot his 9mm at anything and everything..turned out he was the bosses nephew..so guess who got fired ?
since then work in summer sandblasting and painting oil pipelines.at $48.00 hr with a 69 yr old friend who has been doing this for 40 yrs. Hes a workaholic and cant keep younger guys ..so far its been 4 yrs . we work from June 1 to Nov.1. and in winter I groom snowmobile trails for local Snowmobile club for $25.oo cash under the table..
this last November ,my own Garage burned down and lost 40 yrs worth of tools. my quad. 2 snowmobiles. a 08 F150. and my baby..a 98 GL1500 SE. which was all insured except the Gold Wing.. and they only paid me 1/3 of cost to rebuild the garage itself..
so last week looking in KIJIJ Edmonton I came across a 85 GL1200 Asp with Lehman Trike kit with 92,000 kms on it. and hasnt been used since 06.. for $7000 no haggling the ad said. so picked up phone and told the guy consider it sold. turns out was only 36 miles from our acreage that we have for sale near Barrhead.Alberta. I got there at Noon the next day with cash and he had a new battery in it and was running in frt of his house. Paid the man. exchanged paper work and he gave me 4 boxes of parts ??? and clothing and helmets .
drove it to the acreage and put in my old garage,,today went there and removed the markland footboards and heel and toe,/hate those.also removed the drivers back rest too. wife didnt like that digging in her legs..
so better shut up for now. anyone have Don Piggots email address ? hes good friend that I met at a Rally I started 10 yrs ago we got to in St Lobry Nebraska every August long weekend ..
