I need to remove and replace the brake line from the rear master cylinder to the front, which runs under the fuel tank. Does anyone know of a simple way to do this, I'm really not in the mood to remove the fuel tank to do it but I have some steep up and down riding to do and would like to have all brakes working. Hoping for an easy fix. :beg: :beg:

disconnected at both ends you may be able to finagle it out without bending it much. Just bend a new line the same and fight it back in. Some colorful verbage may help. Is the old line plugged or leaking? If it isn't leaking maybe you can use compressed air to blow it clear and reattach it without removal.

You may not have to remove the tank but you may have to take out loose from the mounting.. so you can access and fanagle the hoses out and into position..just to give you finger room... just giving mho for thought process..

Last fall I had to replace the rear m/c and the front line hex fitting was rounded off and I ended up having to cut the line to the front to get it off. I then plugged the m/c basically giving me unlinked brakes. I don't have the stopping power I need for pulling the trailer and doing steep downhill and uphill rides. I'm suppose to go on one next weekend, Mt. Nebo which is a 1355 feet elevation, I know that's not much, but it's got 155 switchback curves on it, it's tough going, mostly first gear. I want all the brake I can get, cause it's one way up and one way down. May look at running a line along the frame rail on the outside or putting a coupling splice in it down by the m/c. Depends on how well it can be hidden.

It may be long enough to install a new nut and reflare the line. Best of luck on that. Although I have used compression fittings on brake lines I don't recommend it. If you need more length you can get flare unions and add another piece. I wish you all the best in this. I know I'd be cussing the air blue.

hmmmmm....well there don't seem to be many tricks here ...it either fix the old with slicing witch has it discounts as in might leak and surely wont be forced installed or new line ...rerouted as you said or same routing .....procedure wise id get the line all made up first ... and yes mike its a stipping going on here ... id make sure I had plenty of room to do this job right .. quit dreading the thought and jusr do what you have to get it done as good as new ... you want to have have stopping power for this ride for sure.....
