Well, he didn't do it, over 9 million dollars bet on him for that race. make you wonder. His owner was pissed and I think he's right, about people holding horses out of the first two races and putting them in the Belmont as spoilers. If you got enough points to get in the Derby, it should be mandatory to race for the crown by running all three races, period.

Tonalist, the winner of the Belmont, 3rd race of the Triple Crown qualified for the Kentucky Derby, Preakness by points earned during racing season. The owner of Tonalist and I think there were a couple more did not let there horses run the First two races of Triple Crown, saving them for the Belmont, which means horses like California Chrome and other horses that ran all three races were not running as fresh horses like Tonalist the the others who did not run the first two races. PHew !!!!
