:smilie_happy: Of course not! I side tracked him. :smilie_happy: He'll have a report soon I'm sure.

thats okay guys cams are changed and its timed and it wont be long before im done....im just upset that i scewed the camera up that dan gave and cant take pics im such a computer idiot  :Doh2: :hihihi: :smilie_happy:

just got back from test ride ...looks like im going to have to adjust the timing as these cams couldnt be any further from the 79 cams that was exspected ....but as i thought theres plenty of muscle in this setup to handle the gearing ....i will know more after doing the timing adjustment....but i think im going to stay here with it i like the all out assalt the bike has in taking off from a stop ...it dose it with ease ...i think the 1100 carbs provide extra torque down low along with the extra 86ccs in size over the 1000s that came with these cams ......im sure a beef up 1100 will out run a 1800 goldwing ... anyway thats where im at now....

i retarded the timng some and went for another ride ....might have to go somemore im just guessing id like to compae specs if i can find them more top end for sure as it sems so far im happy everything went so well

going to finish up some work today on the 83 ....to ready it for riding ...i think i got the timing about right on it ...like a lot of other wings my recovery hose on the radiator is leaking from the sharp angle bending it has to do and a few other things too....

im going with the 75 1000 cams now ive had the 79 1000 cams in for awhile and im going to try the 75 cams for a time to compare .....the 75 cams re in there but i havnt had much time to test them yet after today i sould have everything together for a real good test ....the turn signals are giving me fits right now so im trying to get them to work better ....the more i do the worst they get :head bang:

it seems i got the timings good on th 83 ...ive messed with it so much i lost count on turns from original timing on 1100 cams but i think its retearded some like its owner  ...but the bike screams now and pulls good in all gears .....

imessed with the self canceling trun signals and they quit altogether now  the more i messed wih them the worst they got :cheeky: :Awe: :crying: im a dunce when comes to this setup

well on the good side happy about the running of he bike this angry dresser gose great ...just a short ride of about 20 miles .... :Egyptian: :Egyptian:

I have also changed the cams from my 83 for those from a 75 and had to adjust timing by a couple of degrees. The GL1000 runs at 32 degrees BTDC @4000 rpm - the GL1100 runs at 38.5 degrees BTDC . Therefore so long as the timing is adjusted to suit the engine will respond accordingly.

No real difference low down but there is a noticeable step , almost a new rev response , at about 4,200rpm. An urgency she did not have before. Allows me to throttle back a little for the same speed ( at 70 mph ) and thus save on fuel. I also use this to have a second ignition set up as a redundant unit in case my main ignition unit dies whilst on the road ( it happened once on holiday a few years back ). It is just a little something I did to make my ride a little more unique . Top speed is not really improved but the way she accepts headwinds and hills makes the mod worthwhile.
Joe- you could not mess up with anything - just a pity that the big pond is in the way because I might have been able to help with the spannering .
By the by = will you use either points or electric for the ignition if used from head unit? Points are easier for adjustment , can adjust timing by altering gap ( bigger gap can alter timing by a very fine amount thus give you a base line to work from ). Electronic assemblies , whilst trickier to set up , give more long term reliability ( points wear out with use and need maintenance )
