Hello to all I am new to this sight. So here my question I have a 1984 interstate that I am working on. I bought a 1986 aspy partbike the fairing on the 84 is has some cracks the 86 is good but is digital can I hook the 84 wiring harness to the 86 fairing . Will the gauges work , I know I will have to change Speedo senser on front wheel and the senser for the air compressor and plumb in hard air lines. Has anyone done this before. Thanks

Welcome...I would get a manual with the wiring schematics for the 1200"s for the 84 and 86, there are going to be some difference in them. Then you can see where you will have problems. I just put an 85 motor in an 84 frame, and the pulse gen. wires that come off the 84 are in the rear of the motor and the plug was different from the 85, and the wires came off the front of the 85 for the pulse gen. So it had to be rewired into the wires on the front of the ignition control box....cracks are an easy fix, if there not in some place you can't get your hand in.

Fairing should just swap... the gauges are on the triple tree... and yeah the fair can be patched..either with a better repair kit or using abs patches and abs glue... they have reformulated the glued for pvc to include and haven't tried any of the new stuff have some old stock black abs glue that I use.. the gauges are gonna be the tricky part... like was said get a manual with wiring diagrams for both... you may have to actually cut and splice for the right connectors if you cannot get the harnesses to match up on the main wiring... some connections may not be the same connector .. just my$.02
