man tony you can ride ... sheesh great run on a wing ... im totally impressed good skill

I just though that you should hear a stock carb rack working the way it was meant to. Don't get me wrong I love the cost effectiveness of the weber conversion but I do believe that Honda did a good job in their day with the stock rack. Steve's 83 is a testament to how well a fresh engine and stock carbs ( even if they are a GL1000 rack) can work. Just need to keep riding as much as possible to improve those skills. Much easier with a heavy bike and limited brakes to be riding up hill hard as the climb helps slow you down.

Any difference in feel?
It really feels heaps better and doesn't seem to buck as much in the corners. I haven't checked the tension on brace mounting bolts yet to make sure that they are still tight. I certainly know why they used them standard on the later GWs. I am even considering one for the CBR in the future. :good:

Good to know, I bought a superbrace but haven't used it yet because my fork lowers are yellowed and dull and the brace is high polished billet aluminum, just looks weird on top..Need to strip the clear off and polish the lowers..or get a dull looking brace

i agree .. the carbs can run fine .. the angry dresser was a bad ass bike...... it was an 83 with 1000 carbs and 1000 early cams

My experience before the fork brace was that I had to be carrying at least 3000 rpm around a bend for the bike to feel secure, I (in my ignorance) put it down to the centrifugal effect of the motor, and that was the way the bike handled.

Now that I have the fork brace I know differently. Since the last good GL1100 I had was in '84 and on entirely different roads I hope I can be forgiven for that lapse of memory.

I can assure you chilidawg that the only time the Rats Nest is under 3000 rpm is idle or braking :smilie_happy:
So I can't comment on the 3000 rpm instability :moped:

tony, now I know why you only got 5000 miles out of your Shinko's. :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

yep plus 1 on that mike .....

Too true Mike and the much more expensive Metzler Lasertech is all but had it after 3 months ( I guess 2k miles) as I believed it was not the right tire for the Rats Nest or other heavy bikes. I will be back on the Shinko 230 as soon as I get some more out of the Metzler. First time it slips or slides I will be changing if, I almost did it the other day ( ordered the new tires) but took a closer look and decided I could get some more out of the Metzler. The front Shinko is still going strong.

I guess the movie "Easy Rider" is not about Tony!
That would be legal in Colorado now Steve? I would be worried after a smoke that I would be riding straight through the corners into the wild blue yonder!! :smilie_happy:
