I rode Suzy (the 86) down to the local grocery store this morning and was approached by an old friend of mine that happen to be riding his bike also. He ask when I got this goldwing, he had seen me on it before and I told him it was the same one I been riding, I had just finished a year long refresh job on it and he said No Way, it's gorgeous. Made me feel good. He has a 2006 650 Yamaha, mustang seat with passenger seat, backrest, Memphis shades quick detach windshield, new tires, less than 4000 miles on it, black and chrome, spoked wheels, leather saddle bags and looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. It looks just like this one.

He said, I'll trade you straight up, title for title right now or if you want to think about it let me know, I want that wing. I told him I would think about it.

But then I'd be without a dresser until I put one of these other ones together. I don't know. Would be nice to have a smaller bike to bop around town on.

Id trade the 650 as well - pretty small bike...!! I couldn't get rid of my 750 fast enough..!!

They sell between 3-4 thousand (the yamaha) I like them but I hear they feel like they are tapped out at 70 MPH but for around town and short trips would be a nice smaller bike to have.
It is really your call , sounds like a fair deal.

Vstar 650 was the most popular cruiser Yamaha built. Unlike the Viragos that came before, these bikes had a longer wheel base (more comfortable...smoother ride), they have a disc brake front and drum brake rear. Great bikes without the starter clutch issues the Viragos all had. Valve adjustments are needed every 4000 miles but its not too pricey. I've never seen an engine or transmission failure...they are bullet proof!

Down side? Well not terribly fast but hey, its a cruiser. Valve adjustments probably the worst thing, and they are air cooled carbureted so you have a choke.
Oil changes are sinfully easy (unlike the 1100 Vstar that requires one exhaust header to be removed).

You can buy them here in Northern Wisconsin for $3K to $5K depending on package. That one has a windshield, studded bags, studded seat, and short backrest, so it is a Silverado. It came from Yamaha like that.
Long fenders and fat front tire is a Classic, and bobbed rear fender with a skinny front tire would be a Custom.
Mechanically they are all the same but the Silverado costs the most.

Thanks everyone for your input, I think I've come up with an offer he will accept. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna keep Suzy for awhile, but I believe he will take one of these 85 Interstates after I go through it and doll it up mechanically and cosmetically. If I do that I'll have less money invested in the Yammer/Hammer.
