Has anyone used the plastic welder with the fan from Harbor Freight to repair their fairings? If not, are there any thoughts on using it? I'm thinking of trying it out and hoped someone had some experience with it.

:clapping: Be the guinea pig for us and let us know how it works!
I might just do that, I have a trunk and saddlebag set from a 1200 to practice on....

Man, am I glad I bought that fairing off of fleabay years ago, paid through the nose for it. But!!

Minimal cracks it had then, have not gotten any worse since.

My amatuer attempts at fixing the last one heralded nothing but ugly scars all over it, not to mention the braided edging falling off all the time. Hey I said not to mention that, okay!!

I sincerely hope you have better skills than I did!!

I have small cracks in the trunk, and the right fairing pocket has a piece out of it where it bolts to the mount. The fairing pocket seems to be a common problem, I wonder if it is caused by the heavy radio mounted there causing flex. The chunk that broke out is about 1" wide by 8" long. Ican get ABS glue at work really cheap, was considering the welder though. We used one at my previous job to fix the roofs on the PODS.

Craig Vetter's website seeks wanna patch kits.. looks like they include some sheet and also... on cracks drill the end out and then make the repairs... if you have cracking at mountings.. then you need to figure out if the fairing was tightened with one mount/bolt being completely tightened first before the others are started..making it a stress point... and the fiberglass mat is a good idea to use with that chunk repair...
