I need help on how to jump across the fan to see if it is working or not. I treid to jump the fan from the battery with the key on but the fan would not come on. Also, to check for voltage to the therm switch do I just check it at where the fan plugs into the connector?

to se if fan works go directly to fan from battery possitive and negative don't matter how you do it ... if fan works it will come on ....switching wires changes direction ... ive never had a fan that didn't work its the stuff around it that caises the problems of not working

Thank you for the heads up. I thought it should work by jumping it. And of course it is probably going to need the therm switch and its not an easy fix!

The temp switch for the fan is the fan ground. If you ground the wire with the key on that should turn the fan on.

Welcome to Classics! If you want to take the easy way out, just put in a toggle switch and when the temp gauge starts to climb, flip the switch, and when it falls flip it again. It makes it more dependant on that main nut behind the handle bars, but it can be easier than changing the thermal switch.
