Last summer I pulled my radiator and cleaned it, refilled it and replaced the thermostat with the Napa prescribed one. The bike runs good and the fan kicks on when my indicator moves up to alittle less than 3/4's to the hot zone. Just like it used to do. The difference now is that the fan does not shut off when the needle drops back down. When the bike sits and is fully cooled down the fan is off again until it gets a little hot. So I am first wondering if this was like this before I did the radiator service and I just did not notice it. I know that I am not hurting the bike but I would like the fan to shut down once the antifreeze cools a bit. Any ideas?

hmmmm ... id say the temp switch might be ... if not that it might be radiator flow is restricted ... hmmmm ...we just had a switch deal here ...where the temp switch was not doing right ... if it works out of the zone of operation it seems radiator cant catch up good .. :headscratch:

Could be the fan switch not shutting off. Most issues with this is it not coming on, so you have escaped that bug a boo. Since that is a sealed switch you can't clean the contacts... you may want to take it out and see if you have deposits covering it. If so, clean the outside with mild abrasives, steel wool, etc. Might want to check with the local stealer and see if they can order one for you... don't know what other years will fit except all 1100's will not sure if the 12's or the 15's fit..

I had the same problem, except my fan just quit working all together. Now after replacing the Temp.sensor, my cooliing fan starts up before the 1/2 zone. I even got a Thermo infered to check my head temp.( it gets up to around 170 degrees and you can tell when the thermostat opens and starts to cool, thus letting the fan switch to shut down the fan after cooling down.

Yes that is a great thread. Do we drop good how to stuff in a specific location so the are easy to find for others that might have the same problem?
